Chapter Heads Message :
He who has the Son
has life; he who does not
have the Son of God
does not have life 1 John
5:12
What is the value of
human life?
Today, all around the
world, armies of men and
women-scientists, doctors, nurses, chemists,
and researchers-show
how highly they value
human life by dedicating
their own lives to sustaining it.
But how does God
value human life? Consider these facts:
First: He created us.
Science has done a great
deal to preserve human

The Value of Human Life

life, but science cannot

create life. CREATION
AND LIFE BELONG TO
GOD ALONE!
Second: He redeemed
us through Christ. Jesus
demonstrated that God
is interested in saving
human lives when He
said, I came that they
may have life, and have it
abundantly (John 10:10)
He who has the Son
has life said John in 1
John 5:12. Make sure
you have the life that
matters most eternal
life with God.
The call of the church
against the Reproductive
Health Bill (RH Bill 5043)
is very strong that we

just cant ignore it.

The advocates argument of this bill is that;
the cause of poverty in
our country is over population. However, they
conveniently overlooked
the fact that it is not over
population that causes
poverty, it is corruption.
Hence, passing the Bill
into Law is not the answer to this ever challenging issue of poverty.
It is our outright and
moral obligation to eradicate a major cause of
poverty which is corruption. Say NO to RH Bill!
For it is said that creation
and life belong to God
alone!

Publication Ministry Head Visits BCBP Ormoc

Our Publication Ministry head, Jun Gula, visited
our former outreach and
now Ormoc chapter as
an invited speaker for
their joint commitment
program last May 28.
Thirty-seven brothers
and sisters committed to
enter the BCBP Formation program and seven
committed to become
regular members of
BCBP Ormoc.
BCBP Ormoc started
as an outreach of BCBP
Mactan in 1995 and became a chapter in 1999.

The visit was an opportunity to renew the ties

between the two chapters.
The commitment
program was held at the
beautiful Sabin Resort
Hotel. It began with a
Holy Mass, then the talk
by kuya Jun before the
participants signed their
commitment cards. The
whole community feasted
on the sumptuous buffet
dinner and enjoyed the
wonderful Hawaiian
themed presentations.

The Dumaguete Experience

Nery Gula

My heart is filled withjoy as my children related

how they enjoyed their
wonderful Dumaguete
experiences.
Day one began with
the early morning breakfast at ate Nenes friend,
then the chill-chill after
the breakfast, to the city
tour which they had with
Jun. They were so
amazed at how big the
Silliman campus was and
the many things they
learned about the school.
When they finally
were billeted at La Residencia Dumaguete, it was
rest at last. It was their
first time to be in a hotel
and they had a grand
time enjoying the place,
even testing the strength

of the beds by jumping and

dancing on them.
On day two, they had a
tour with their aunt and
uncle from Tacloban and
they visited the Forest
Camp, Tierra Alta subdivision, and Bacong church.
They also had a side trip to
a souvenir shop at Bacong
where they bought a beautiful bejeweled hair clip for
me. How sweet!
In the afternoon they
attended the anticipated
mass prior to the fellowship night. One beautiful
thing they remembered
was the song sang during
the Peace be with you
part of the mass. They love
the way BCBP members
were greeting each other
with smiles and hugs and

beso-beso.
They left Dumaguete
City for Cebu early
Sunday morning via
Ceres bus. Their uncomfortable ride home
was made bearable by
the laughter and giggles
coming from the Ormoc
delegates who were
with them in the bus.
I am glad that though I
was not with my family
in Dumaguete, I feel like
I was there too with the
many experiences they
shared. In fact our eldest, Alyssa, said, Balik
nya ta didto , Ma. Why
not? In Gods time.

QUICK QUESTIONS (www.catholic.com/thisrock/quickquestions)

Q:

Is it OK to work on Sunday?

from work is necessary. We know that even God himself rests: "he rested on the seventh
A: day Rest
from all his work which he had done" (Gen. 2:2). In recognition of this, the Church obligates us
to rest on the Lords day. The Code of Canon Law states, "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass. Moreover, they are to abstain from those
works and affairs which hinder the worship to be rendered to God, the joy proper to the Lords
Day, or the suitable relaxation of mind and body" (CIC 1247). However, the Church also recognizes that legitimate reasons excuse from this obligation. The Catechism of the Catholic
Church explains, "Family needs or important social service can legitimately excuse from the obligation of Sunday rest. The faithful should see to it that legitimate excuses do not lead to habits prejudicial to religion, family life, and health" (CCC 2185).
