NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION TO LAUNCH KIDNEY RIDE 2015

Pittsburgh, PA The National Kidney Foundation Serving the Alleghenies (NKFALL)
announced on September 23 approval from its national office to launch Kidney Ride, a
fundraising event set for September 6, 2015, in Allegheny Countys South Park. This first annual
recreational bike ride will raise awareness and funds to support the fight against kidney disease.
The event will offer 30-, 60-, and 90-mile routes to accommodate riders of all experience
levels. Cyclists will travel on bike paths and local roads surrounding South Park, a 2,013-acre
space located 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Registration opens October 20, 2014, and
participants can enter individually or as a team. To help Kidney Ride reach its goal of $150,000
towards supporting NKFALLs vital programs, fundraising minimums will apply.
Our Development Team has already started planning and preparing for Kidney Ride,
said Erin Tuladzieck, Executive Director of NKFALL. Were looking for fitness buffs and
beginners, riders and volunteers alike to help us reach our goal and make a difference in the lives
of those affected by kidney disease.
Funding garnered through events like Kidney Ride enables NKFALL to provide
educational literature, patient support hotlines, and community-based KEEP Healthy screenings

that detect and prevent kidney disease in at-risk individuals. Additionally, it allows the
foundation to partner with the PA Renal Transportation Program and reimburse patients for
transportation costs traveling to and from dialysis treatment.
Chronic kidney disease affects 26 million Americans and millions more face risk of
diagnosis. If detected too late, it can lead to kidney failure. Additional information regarding
chronic kidney disease and NKFALLs Kidney Ride is available on their website.
