Releasing one block to Crying

Bioenergetically

To work with screaming amd crying bioenergetically, one has to understand the
muscular and energetic dynamics. The scream is produced by a sudden expulsion of air.
That happens when the throat, which is holding against the expiration, lets go and opens
wide. The muscles involved are the anterior scalenes, the stylohyoid, and the
digastricus. Actually, all the muscles of the area play some part in the various functions
of the mouth and throat; screaming, crying, breathing, sucking. The gasp is the reverse
side of the scream in that it is produced by a sudden opening of the throat at the
beginning of inspiration of air. And both screaming and gasping are related to the
function of sucking. Thus, by releasing the scream, one can open up the sudden sucking
in of air which we describe as a gasp and which I call an expression of the desire to live.
1.1 To sob contact and release the scalene muscles in the neck

Instructions: Duration 1 minute

There are 3 scalene muscles in the neck; the most common stretches we recommend are
the middle and anterior for stretching, NOT the posterior. Sit as straight as possible, and
place the hand of the side to be stretched under that buttock. For the middle muscle, pull
your head away from the hand you are sitting on for 10 seconds. For the anterior stretch,
put the hand behind you, and turn the head away from it. Then tilt your head back. (Stop
if you feel any signs of dizziness or feel like you are about to faint!! )
