Caring & Services

Pastoral Care Volunteers provide a caring
presence, careful listening, and a wide
range of support services to church
members and friends facing challenges
and unusual stresses. Our ministers and
volunteers work together to offer a
loving community and an atmosphere of
hope and acceptance for those who are
in need. Pastoral Care Volunteers receive
specialized training for their roles as
needed.
As part of Pastoral Care you can help
provide...

Lifespan care through both times of

crisis and joy
Caring support to those who are ill in
hospitals, home, or care facilities
1-on-1 visits by lay people trained in
empathic listening
Rides to appointments or errands
Meals during a difficult time
Cards to show support & caring
Emotional support when facing a
personal or family crisis
Food shelf for members & friends
Grief support and recovery
Specialized support groups

We need one another when we

mourn and would be comforted.
We need one another when we
are in trouble and afraid.
We need one another when we
are in despair, in temptation, and
need to be recalled to our best
selves again.
We need one another when we
would accomplish some great
purpose, and cannot do it alone.
We need one another in the hour
of success, when we look for
someone to share our triumphs.
We need one another in the hour
of defeat, when with
encouragement we might endure,
and stand again.

I would like to...

____ Provide Meals
Make comforting meals for families with
a variety of dietary and allergen-free
requirements. If you have special
cooking skills, please let us know.
____ Give Rides
Help our beloved community stay mobile by
offering occasional rides to doctors
appointments, etc. and/ or weekly rides to
church.

____ Send Cards

Sending caring cards and letters to
members of our community who are
lonely or in transition.
_____ Donate to First U's food pantry
Bring non-perishable food to our pantry
shelves anytime.

We need one another when we

come to die, and would have
gentle hands prepare us for the
journey.

_____ Visit people 1-on-1

Visit members of our community who
can no longer get out and about.

All our lives we are in need, and

others are in need of us.
