Abstract. Cardiovascular disease has been becoming serious problem in Indonesia. Number of occurrence is increasing every
year from 3,2% in 2009 to 3,65% in 2010 and currently doctor uses coronary stent to cure the patient. The decision is only
depending on the doctor opinion that in some cases it is not proper decision since there were other factors need to be considered
such as technical factor. This paper is aimed to identify the importance rating of user acceptability factors of coronary stent from
doctor, medical, and technical perspectives. It is continued by designing an optimum coronary stent concept based on those
factors. Analysis of stent design in this paper is limited to bare metal stent. User acceptability factors are collected from expert
user interview and literature review. Analytical Hierarchy Process is used to calculate the importance rating of those factors and
Factor Rating Method is used to analyze the optimum coronary stent design. There are 18 acceptability criteria which are
grouped in 4 factors according to doctors and stent manufacturers. Trackability has the highest importance rating while ease of
preparation has the lowest one. Some of those factors are used in Factor Rating Method, which are radial strength, volume,
flexibility, and elastic recoil, for analyzing optimum composition of coronary stent design based on several commercial stents in
Indonesia. The optimum design is composition of Precision strut and Multilink link with Cobalt-Chromium L-605. The results of
this paper can be used by Indonesian manufacturers as reference to develop and produce coronary stent.
