3. Fold the pages over AWAY from you to create a foldable as shown below. The two middle
sections will be overlapping. The folds/flaps will be on the BACK, and it may be easier to flip the
pages over to face you. There will be 7 sections.
Levels of Ecological
Organization
Organism
Population
Community
Ecosystem
Biome
Biosphere
Place two staples in the top of your foldable, and label the top section Levels of Ecological
Organization.
4. Label the remaining sections in this order: Organism, Population, Community, Ecosystem,
BIOME, Biosphere. Write these titles in large bold print as shown in the picture above
5. Lift the first flap (under the title) and write a definition for the word organism. Draw and color a
picture to represent an organism.
6. Under the second flap you will place the definition for the word population. Draw and color a
picture to represent a population in the blank space under the flap.
7. Choose an environment for your foldable and include organisms and other features found there.
For example, if you choose an ocean theme, for organism you would draw one shark, for
population you might draw a group of sharks, for community you might draw sharks, fish and
seaweed. Your ecosystem/biome should include both the biotic factors found in your
community drawing and also abiotic factors like the sand, rocks and water.

8. If you do not finish, you can take your foldable home to finish. This foldable is due tomorrow at
the beginning of the period.
