WHAT IS
DIABETES?
Too

much sugar in the blood that was caused by


not having enough insulin

WHAT CAUSES DIABETES?

High blood sugar levels

Type 1 diabetes: the blood doesnt produce insulin

Type 2 diabetes: the blood does not produce enough insulin

Genetics and environmental factors

IS IT PREVENTABLE?

Yes and no

Some ways are by eating healthy food and having a diet

Getting plenty of physical activity and losing extra fat weight

But if you don't have diabetes you can prevent other disease like

Making year round eye exams

As well as clinical trials

ALC test often

And making monthly check ups with your doctor to see if it gets worst

TREATMENT:

Type 2: Healthy eating

Regular exercise

Diabetes medication or insulin therapy

Blood sugar monitoring

Medicine: Metformin, Sulfonylureas, Meglitinides, Thiazolidininediones

Type 1:insulin

Exercise

A healthy eating

SYMPTOMS:
Type 1:
-Weight loss, even if youre eating more (only type 1)
-Feeling very hungry
-Blurry vision
-Feeling very thirsty

-Cuts/bruises are slow in healing


-Extreme fatigue
-Urinating often
Type 2:
-Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet (only type 2)
-All of the above but so mild its almost unnoticeable

PROGNOSIS

2: Getting this in your 40s takes 5 to 10 years off the years
