Thesis;
Food has been enjoyed as a
pastime for thousands of years.
Although cooking styles have
evolved throughout the years,
Mexican, Italian, and Asian cuisines
have remained the most popular.

History of Mexican Cuisine;


Authentic Mexican food is believed to have originated
from the Mayan Indians.
In 1521, Spain invaded Mexico. Spanish food had the
greatest influence on Mexican cuisine.
The Aztecs can be thanked for chocolate. Spaniards
brought it to Mexico in 1657.

History of Italian Cuisine;


The history of Italian food began about 13,000 years
ago, around 400 B.C, right after the Romans took
control of Italy.
Italian cuisine was influenced by the Persians who were
also influenced by the Greek.
Tomatoes were brought to Italy in the 16th century by
the Spaniards, but they were thought to be poisonous
and were only grown for decoration.

History of Asian Cuisine;


Asia is the worlds largest continent in both size and
population, with about 3.5 billion people.
Chinese cuisine has become the most popular in all
Asian styles of cooking.
Still unknown, but Chinese legend says that Confucius
influenced the use of chopsticks through his non-violent
teachings, he urged people not to use knives,
so chopsticks were used instead.

Ive learned a lot about the
history of ethnic foods and
how they came to be the
foods they are today, I also
learned how to cook some
foods.

My Mentor;
My Mentors name is Lisa
Scanlan. She is my
neighbor and the mother of
my friend, Ned. She was a
chef at The Grove Park Inn,
cooked at Earth Fare, and
now does the catering at
Ingles. She has helped me
a lot, learning how to cook
different types of food.

Challenges and Successes;


Challenges;
Burning my hand, trying to cook.
Not burning the food.

Successes;
Making egg rolls and Lo Mein.
Taking pictures.
Choosing a dish for my product.
