Oil seepage has an indirect relationship with petroleum presence. Seepage-rich basins generally correlate to basins rich in subsurface presence. The study of seepage will be most value in the future in regional assessments of frontier basin.

Seepage-rich basins generally correlate to basins rich in subsurface presence, and the majority of petroleum systems, both globally and within Indonesia, show a significant surface expression in the form of seepage. The study of seepage will be of most value in the future in regional assessments of frontier basin (Macgregor, 1995). Cikatomas is a petroleum frontier area where located in Southern Mountain of West Java as a remnant of magmatic belt. It largely consists of sub-basin inversion and deforming sequences of Tertiary sediments, in contrast to the stable northern basin (Sunardi, 2008). The stratigraphy in this area consists of sedimentary rock which is divided into a thick volcaniclastic rock and carbonate rock. Sedimentary rock in this area was origin from gravity setting of depositional which is produce of deposit sediment with a thickness 4 km (Djuhaeni,1996). Regionally, Cikatomasarea is composed by a Formation of Pamutuan in which consist of a limestone, calsilutite, and marls. Formation of Bentang in which consist of a calcareous sandstone, tuffaceous sandstone, shale intercalation and limestone lenses. During of field research March-April, 2012 in Pakemitan has been found four spots of oil seepage. The data based from field geological mapping. Based on field data, stratigraphy of Cikatomas Area has been reviewed to identify the petroleum system potential. The tectonic inversion introduces the different for hydrocarbon prospectivity compared with normal extensional tectonic. Magmatism and tectonism are the main parameters for the hydrocarbon accumulation. This paper will briefly discuss the factors of hydrocarbon accumulation condition. Combination of stratigraphy, intricate structural, and the depositional system to provides the accumulation are briefly discussed.
