BWV 147a and 147

147a
composed in Weimar in 1716 only survives in its expanded Leipzig
adaptation for the visitation of the Virgin Mary Durr; Cantatas of J.S. Bach
originally for 4th Sunday in advent, 1716. No cantata was performed in Leipzig
on that occasion, however, so the text was adapted to a new purpose by
making various textual alteration, replacing the concluding chorale, adding the
recits nos. 2,4,8 and incorporating an additional chorale verse to conclude the 1st
part of a work that was now expanded to 2 parts.
