Technology life cycle

1. Emergente - Nowadays of little use but in the future they have a chance to
become a key. They should be also strongly protected against competition.
Example: 3D bio-printing
What is it?
Bioprinting the production of human organs for transplant or for body on a chip
use. The technology involves the creation of replacement tissues and organs that are
printed layer-by-layer into a three-dimensional structure.
Why?
It is one of the various fields f modern technology, ongoing development, advance and
innovation. It is one of emerging technologies, it is technical innovation which represent
progressive developmet within a field for ompetitive advantage.
Currently it has a little value, but if it is gonna be financed, it could become a key
technology.
The largest investment made by the companies should be imposed on the development
of key technologies and the creation and development of new technology, which can be a
key.
Where to put it in the Product lifecycle?
The obvious choice it to put it to the Introduction (phase I). Sale at this stage is small and
growing slowly. Distribution is difficult. It needs large investments that begin Also pay in
the later stages of product development. Unit costs are very high because it does not yet
benefit from the scale of production.. During this period, yield is very low and sometimes
even negative.
At this stage it is very important direct contact and cooperation with the customer. The
buyers are mostly people accommodating to the new so-called "pioneers".
