Are Spiders INSECTS?


Spiders are NOT insects.
They belong to the class Arachnids.
Below are the differences between a spider and an insect:

Spiders dont have antenna like insects.


Spiders dont have wings at all. This is also true for some insects,
but there are plenty insects out there with either two or four
wings.
Insects have three pairs of legs and spiders have eight legs.

Are All Spiders VENOMOUS?


All spiders have fangs, they all have venom in them.
There are a few spiders with poison strong enough to cause pain
or even some nerve damage in humans, they are the Black Widow
and the Brown Recluse.
Most spiders use their venom to paralyze its insect victim long
enough to devour it.
For other spiders, their poison is strong enough to kill their
prey. Of course, this also comes in handy when being attacked
by a predator.

A male spider is usually smaller than a female spider.

Other members of the arachnid family include scorpions, mites,


ticks and harvestmen.

There are around 40,000 different species of spiders.

Most species pose no threat to humans.

Most spiders make silk which they use to create spider webs and
capture prey.

Tarantulas are large and often hairy spiders, the biggest species
have been known to kill mice, lizards and birds.
