Carolina Mardones Vallejos

Composition N 1
Title: Self Introduction
____________________________________________________________________
My name is Carolina Andrea Mardones Vallejos, and I believe it
couldn't be more common. I really hate my name, not because I think it is an ugly name,
but because there are so many girls named Carolina Andrea that most of the times it
becomes a nuisance. For example, when I was in High school there were three
"Carolina Andrea"s and a "Carolina Pia", therefore my teachers and classmates, to avoid
confusion, always used our last names instead.
I was born in Los Angeles, but when I was three months old I moved
to Ralco with my parents. I lived and studied there until I was ten years old and came
back to Los Angeles in order to continue my studies in a different school. I changed
school mainly because I was bullied by my classmates in Ralco, it was one of the
saddest episode in my life.
Leaving Ralco meant a huge change. People in the city, even children,
were much more serious than in the country side. They preferred to watch TV rather
than climbing trees. But come to think about that again, I don't remember many trees
that we could climb back then.
As a consequence of all these changes I started to look for an identity
in order to feel I belonged to something. I needed something to call mine. So first I tried
becoming a hippie, but in a childish way. I only wore green, I fed stray animals and sang
to the few trees and plants I could find.
Then I started to watch anime, a style of Japanese cartoon series, and

became an "otaku". Afterwards I forgot about cartoons, dressed in black and became a
fanatic of metal music. I adopted a gothic style while I was studying in a traditional
catholic school, anyone can imagine the result.
The metal and gothic style became the one that represented me the
most. Even today I listen to metal music and love black roses, although I started to wear
"normal" clothes because of my job. I understand it could give a wrong impression.
