The Great Flood 1962

The Black Death is a kind of plague that spread

through Europe in the 14th Century. It spread
through trade routes across Europe. The city centre was greatly affected when The Black Death
came to Hamburg.

The flood was caused by the Stom Vincinette which

pushed a large amount of water into the mouth of the
River Elbe causing a wave of 5.7m above sea level
to break through the citys dykes. The southern parts
of the city were most affected which included Wilhelmsburg, a highly populated borough. This disaster
prompted the city to develop new flood prevention
systems.
