She is an exemplary student and a courteous young lady. I have had the pleasure of knowing Miss Velasco for alittle over a year, during which time she was enrolled in my Literary Analysis and Advanced Placement English classes. Asa student in my English classes, Kyra is a diligent worker, taking every advantage to get assignments done in class. She also actively seeks feedback so that she may improve her writing and analytical skills. Her contributions to in class discussions are engaging and thought provoking and she is willing to ask questions. Kyra has an exceptional academic work ethic and her passion for learning and pushing herself to achieve her absolute best is seen both in and out of the classroom. Kyra’s rigorous class. schedule, which includes AP Biology, AP English, and AP Calculus, is a reflection of her commitment to excellence. Miss Velasco is also actively involved in our school activities as a member of the National Honor Society, Student Senate, Spanish Club, and Earth Crew. Kyra has also been a member of multiple athletic teams during her high school career, including cross country, track and field, volleyball, and basketball. Kyrais highly involved with community activities in many capacities. As a volunteer at St. Joseph hospital and a local nursing home she has continually shown her compassion for others. Kyra is not only concerned with helping others, but our environment as well, which is exemplified in her help with recycling and highway cleanup. In addition, she works with Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity. Kyra’s faith has also guided her activities through her involvement with the Holy Family Youth Group, as well as being a lector at both Holy Family and Sacred Heart church. Miss Velasco is a dedicated young lady who shows composure and maturity in the classroom. She has proven herself to be a role model for the students at Tawas Area High School.
