Scientific Method!

Question/Problem: Does the shape effect the distance a paper airplane will fly?
Which model of the paper airplane will fly the furthest? How should we fold the
tip of the tip of the wings to make it fly further? Will the paper airplane fly far if
we add them together? Will your paper airplane will go far if you throw it lightly?

Hypothesis:We thought the plane with the sharpest point would win the paper
airplane competition.

Experiment: We through our plane strait relaxed but hard. While we flew our plane
(Far Glider) the wind flew in our faces and I think the next time we fly paper
planes or/and have a airplane competition we we have to choose a time less
windy. Each group had time to through 3 times.

Materials:To make our planes used A4 card stock and white A4 paper. We used
rulers to exact our folding and paper clips to clip parts together.

Procedure:
HOW?: Your asking how wee will fly our plane? Well we will fly it relaxed and hard
WHERE?: Tennis court
HOW MANY TRAILS WILL WE HAVE?: We will have three trails
WHAT WILL WE USE TO MESURE THE DISTANCE THAT OUR PLANE FLEW?:With a
big tape measure

Observations and Data: We observed that the plane thrown the lightest flew the
furthest.

Conclusion:We thought the plane with the sharpest plane would win is accepted.
The Data shows that the plane that was light, with medium size wings was the
best of them all. The results of this investigations are useful because if you
would do something like this again you would know that your plane would need
the characteristics listed above in order to win. This investigation could be
improved by video taping the competition, measuring distance of each plane flew
and entering one of these competitions.
