US Government & Economics

I believe that with more knowledge about the United States Government, the more insight
one has about the structure and understanding to what extent the government has shaped the
society. What I want to get out of The US Government and Economics course is mainly the
general knowledge of the government and how economics work. The way the government
works, such as the three branches, checks and balance systems, constitution, etc. are all
significant. I would also like to study more political cartoons and historical documents because
those artifacts truly depict what is happening during that time.
The topics that intrigues me the most from the fall semester course calendar are Civil
Rights & Civil Liberties, The Presidency, and Parties and Elections because I have always had a
great interest in learning more information about individual rights, how those rights and
freedoms evolved or devolved over time, and the influence many movements had on the
government. I also want to know how each President changed the United States and how the
change effected the way citizens live. In addition, how each presidential candidates political
parties, either major or minor, are formed and the purpose of those parties have also interested
me.
Class discussions and notes will definitely help me learn more about these topics.
