Martin Luther King Jr. day

It started after he died in 1968 but in 1983 the government
made it a national holiday that businesses and schools are
closed for the day. But some privet businesses stay open.

About his
assassination
Martin was shot at 6:05 pm on April 4 1968. He was shot from across
the street while he was on his balcony when he was shot on the lower
left side of face. His killer was named James Earl Ray. After he killed
him he later confessed and served 99 years in jail. At his funeral a
tape was played that said Id like someone to mention that day that
Martin Luther King Jr. tried to give his life serving others.
