Team 20 Edit & Revise!

After writing a rough draft, it is important to revise. Look again! Please read your essay quietly aloud
as many times as is necessary while making changes to your work.
My font is black, readable, and of appropriate size.
I checked the spelling in my essay.
I checked my capitalization. All sentences begin with a capital letter. Proper nouns are capitalized.
I checked my punctuation. All sentences end with a period. I have apostrophes in contractions and in
possessive nouns
I read through my essay to make sure all of my sentences make sense and are complete.
I changed words in my writing to make them more interesting. (good vs. ____) Here are words that I

I deleted words or sentences that arent needed.
I added words or sentences where they were needed.

explained anything that needed explaining to give my reader context.
I checked to make sure my essay flows well. I have smooth transitions between paragraphs.
I varied my vocabulary and did not repeat any one word too often.
I consulted the Writers Tool Kit.
Onomatopoeia Add noisy words to your writing where appropriate.
Alliteration Add words that begin with the same sound.
Simile How does something look, feel, or sound? Use like or as to describe.
Dialogue Add talking to your writing. Use ,
