Active Tectonic in Turkey, Active Tectonic in

Romania

About Active Tectonia in Turkey can be a lot to say and also about
Active Tectonic in Romania but to be made a comparison between these
two is quite difficult because geology of these two countries is very
different.
Geological speaking, Turkey is very different from Romania. One of
the differences between geology of these countries is given by the
different age of the rocks and how these two countries have been
tectonically created and modified by plate motions. In Romania, excepting
the plain areas, where the sediments are mostly Quaternary age, so
relativily young, rest of the country has a stable geology in terms of
tectonic with rock of older age. Romania is heavily faulted but unlike the
faults in Turkey Romanias faults are not tectonicaly active.
Romania currently has only one major point active tectonic found at
the intersection of three major tectonic plates that generate rarely a small
earthquake. For example, the last big earthquake in Romania was in 1977
with magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale. On the other hand, Turkey is
heavily faulted, faults that are found in relatively rocks of young age,
stratigraphically speaking, faults that are active tectonically speaking.
This course was useful to me through the fact that it clarified a lot of
information and made me better understand active tectonic.
My vision about active tectonic is not changed but this course helped me
understand more about active tectonic and I can say now I have a wider
vision about how active tectonic work.
This lecture was helpful to me, made me understand better how
tectonic works regarding plates boundary, fault classification, activ faults,
tectonic regimes, paleoseismology and tectonic in general.
