Peer-Mentoring

Dear parent/guardian,
As part of the year 12 public services the students have set up a health lifestyle program
that they will be proposing to new year 7 students free of charge. The SIS Big and Little
peer mentoring programme has been introduced to help support in the transition of our
new year 7 students. A select few year 7s will be carefully paired with a year 12 student
who has received specific training in mentoring and coaching. Each session will look into
the importance of 4 core areas, a healthy diet, regular exercise and stress management.
The course will include:
Ice-breaker games to get to know each other forming a relationship adapt for the
course.
In session questionnaires for the year 12s to understand what the year 7 student
wants to improve in terms of healthy lifestyle.
There will be 1-1 sessions focussing on a range of topics prioritising the areas the
little was to improve in. There will be presentations, 1-1 conversations, games and
some fun pop quizs to monitor their understanding. The topics range from: healthy
eating, the effects of alcohol, stress, smoking, drugs and also the benefits of exercise.
For the final part of this course the year 12 will put together a tailored training
program, which may include exercise, a diet and nutrition or even stress
management.

I ___________ give consent to my son/daughter ___________ to participate in
