This research study, neodymium separation from mixed rare earth using precipitation
method combined with extraction via hollow fiber supported liquid membrane. Feed solution
is prepared from precipitation mixed rare earth with ammonium hydroxide at (pH 4.6 and 7.8),
respective. The results showed that the unwanted elements could be reduced and there was
the pure cerium up to 93.2 percent and pure lanthanum up to 92.5, respective. The solution,
Neodymium in has a amount of 70.0 percent, was used as a solvent in the extraction by
hollow fiber supported liquid membrane. By studying, the influence of pH in the range of 1 to
5.The liquid membrane was fabricated from a solution of Cyanex 272 dissolved in kerosene
solvent before embedded in the microstructure of porous hollow fibers. The concentrations
used were in the range of 0.1 to 0.5 moles per liter. In the experiment, Nitric acid solution,
used as reagent strip, Influence of concentration in the range of 1 to 5. Then, the feed
solution to flow inside the hollow fiber and stripping solution to flow outside, both do the
same flow through the flow rate of 100 ml per minute.

The results showed that the pH of the feed solution for extraction is equal to 3 percent
of the maximum was 87.9. The influence of the concentration of the extract was concentrated
to 0.3 moles per liter, can be extracted from the equivalent figure is 92.1 percent. And the
concentration of the strip. The concentration of 0.3 mole per liter to strip most of 86.2 percent
and 80.1 percent purity.
