(Staphylococcus aureus)
Dr.Wagner Paulon
2008

Despite the great success of antibiotics and, in

part, because of it, cross infection in hospitals,
has become a serious problem in recent years.

You can not say if there is more cross-infection

now that 10 years ago, because data are available.

Anyway, cross infection is very frequent and

serious cause for concern.

The problem is complicated further by the

infections are often caused by antibiotic-
resistant bacteria, possibly because this type of
micro-organism is the only one who can survive
the flood of drugs that makes use of modern
medicine.

The excessive abuse of antibiotics is not here
object to special considerations, simply say that,
besides not being scientific, can be dangerous.

Another possible detrimental effect of

antibiotics is to eliminate or modify the normal
flora, with this encouraging, according to some,
the invasion of pathogens.

Staphylococcal infections, usually contracted in

hospitals, including impetigo of the newborn,
breast abscess in infants and nursing mothers,
wound infection, pneumonia in debilitated
patients, pustules, abscesses and perionixe in
adults as well as osteomyelitis, meningitis,
septicemia and otitis media.
