Abstract
Objective: 1-year pregnancy rates of
EC users
copper T380 intrauterine device (IUD)
oral levonorgestrel (LNG)

Study design:
Prospective
Observational

Abstract - Results
542 women
215 (40%) copper IUD.
327 (60%) oral LNG.

Pregnancy rate
IUD 6.5%
LNG 12.2%

Abstract
Conclusion: 1 year pregnancy rate
IUD : LNG = 1 : 2

Implication: Greater use of copper


IUD for EC

Introduction
EC reduce unintended pregnancy
following unprotected intercourse.
EC pills population abortion rates
remain.

Salt Lake City.
November 2009 to July 2010.
EC
oral LNG 1.5 mg single dose
copper T 380A IUD

Exclude Criteria
> 30 years old.
Uterine infection < 3 months.
GO or chlamydia infection < 60
days.
