Research

Myresearcheffortsencompassthefundamentalandappliedaspectofadvancedmaterialprocessing,
in particular, various facets of colloids and functional (bio and energy) materials, especially on
development of strategies to prepare/fabricate colloidal particles with desired shape & size, their
stabilization/ dispersion, multidirectional/ ordered assembly/ patterning, synthesis and
functionalizationtoobtainnanostructuredmaterialfordifferentapplications.
Majorresearchthemesarethefollowing
Dispersion: Particulate surface characterization/ modification to study fundamental aspect
of dispersion in aqueous/nonaqueous medium. Study of interactions of different additives
inaslurrytodevelopsuspensionwithdesiredproperties.
Coating: Functional/ structural (such as oxidation/corrosion resistant coating,
hydrophobic/hydrophiliccoating,bioactivecoating,smartcoatingforsensorapplication)on
metal/ceramic by different processing routes such as electrophoretic deposition, spin
coating, dip coating, solgel coating. Surface modification of metal/ ceramic in terms of
theirsurfaceroughnesstohavebetteradhesionpropertiesofthecoating.
Energy material: Bottomup approach is targeted to develop ceramic based material for
waste heat management, in particular my interest lies in developing oxide based
thermoelectric material. In addition, our group are working on perovskites based material
to develop suitable electrode/electrolytes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell/ Proton conducting Fuel
cell.
