Read the description of Abraham Lincoln below and then rearrange the following
sentences in the correct order.
The life and achievements of Abraham Lincoln still inspire people today.
Born in a log cabin, he grew up to become one of the greatest leaders of the
United States of America.
Abraham Lincoln had a very difficult childhood. He had to struggle for a
living because his mother died when he was nine years old. He did not attend
college but was educated at home instead. As a boy, Abraham Lincoln loved
reading. He would walk for miles to borrow books. When he grew up, he held
several jobs, including running a store and serving as a postmaster. He
studied law in his spare time and became a lawyer.
Abraham Lincoln was not afraid to fight for what was right. He faced
many hardships but kept on going. He was elected as the 16 th President of the
United States of America.
After he became the president, he decided to abolish slavery. This led
to many states in America wanting to break away, thus, causing a civil war.
These break away states were defeated and finally, the slaves were freed.
Till today, Abraham Lincoln is well-loved and remembered because he
fought for the freedom and rights of the African-Americans in the United
States.
