Operations management is an activity that involves planning and coordinates the use of the

organisation's resources to convert inputs into outputs.


It is an area of management that concerns designing, controlling the process of production and
redesigning business operations the the production of goods and services. It also invoves the
responsibility of ensuring the business operations are efficient in terms of using as few resources
possile and effective in terms of meeting customer requirements.
The four V's of operations
1) volume - how many products are made by the operations
2) variety - how many different types of products and services are made by the operations
3) variation - how much does the level of demand change over time.
4) visibility - howmuch of the operations are exposed to its customers
