M: Nice restaurant.
F: Hmm. Well, the shrimp looks good.
M: Oh, yeah, that looks nice. Hmm, what else do they have?
F: Well, the clams are really fresh here. How about that?
M: Oh, clams. Hmm. Maybe something else.
F: Well, what kind of fish do you prefer? Theyve got salmon,
snapper whatever you like. And its all fresh.
M: Well... I... uh. OK, the truth is Im just not that big on seafood.
Actually, the truth is I just dont like it. Clams, shrimp, salmon
whatever. I guess the truth is Im just a big meat eater.
F: Well, why didnt you say something! We didnt have to come to a
seafood restaurant.
M: Im sorry.
F: Dont worry about it. Look. They have steak.
M: OK, now youre talking.
CONVERSATION 2
M: Everythings ready. Why dont we sit down?
F: OK... Wow! This food looks terrific!
M: Pasta with pesto.
F: Mmm. Did you make that from scratch?
M: Mm-hmm.
F: Im pretty much a pasta addictespecially homemade.
M: And weve got grilled chicken.
F: Mmm. Look at that!
M: You like grilled chicken?
F: Youve got all my favorites!
M: And weve got some nice steamed carrots.
F: Oh.
M: Whats the matter?
F: Nothing.
M: Dont you like steamed carrots?
F: Well, I guess Im really not a big carrot fan. But its OK
M: No problem. Ill hurry and make a salad.

F: No, its fine. Everything looks delicious.
