Motors: A new mission at ESI
Since 1991, ESI has focused on producing the highest quality motor
controls in the marketplace, pioneering control technologies for
motorized interior and exterior window coverings, retractable awnings,
projection screens and media concealment products.
Though our controls have operated motors made by every major
manufacturer, we have received constant requests from customers for
a motor solution with fully-integrated ESI motor controls. We are excited
to respond to this call by launching a complete motor line that will bring
unique features and an enhanced user experience to the marketplace.
We will be launching the M-series motors in phases. This launch includes
standard mechanical limit AC motors, followed by a collection of motors
with integrated control options using ESI RQ bus technology and ESI RF
transceiver technology.
Motor noise is a critical component of the current competitive
landscape, and is a primary force in our development and testing.
Motors available from ESI blend low noise levels with the feature-rich
control you expect from ESI, at an attractive price point.
The addition of motors into the ESI product line enhances the products
manufactured by our loyal customers and provides competitive
advantages in the ever-changing world of motorized products.

The M25 series of quiet DC motors are ideal for roller
shades and blinds using a 28mm ID tube or larger.
All M25 motors come with state of the art electronic
limits. The limits are easily adjustable for the upper
and lower travel limit positions. They are extremely
precise and easy to set and adjust.
M25S also features field selectable speeds of 28 or
34 RPM.

The ESI Suite remote offers simple,
stylish, reliable wireless control of all
ESI RF enabled motors.
Available in both a 1 channel version
(Step) and a 4 channel version (Arc)
these devices utilize the 802.15.4 RF
standard to deliver commands via mesh
network technology, providing repeater
functionality, status reports and feedback
with 2 way communication.
These devices also work with the ESI RF
RQ Receiver to provide wireless control of
standard 4 wire AC and 2 wire DC motors
operated by ESI RQ controllers (1 receiver
required for each RQ controller).
With exceptional range (100 ft / 30 meters unobstructed) and built in repeater
functionality, it is now possible to provide RF motor control solutions that really
work!

Motor Techinical Notes
Turns:
The electronic limits of the motor travel are calculated as counts away from the center position
(this is where the motor was when both limits were cleared and is not necessarily at the physical
center of travel). The +/- number represents how many turns are available on either side of
center.
If you are running a motor that has a long travel distance, you may need to put the motor near
the center, then clear both limits to get sufficient travel.
The number of turns is also limited by the thermal overload time. If the motor has been moving
recently and is hot, the full travel may not be achievable.
A motor thermal will act exactly like a stall.
Duty Cycle M40/M50:
The stated On / Off times denote continuous operation duty cycle without motor overheating.
A Motor that is cool may run for up to 4 minutes continuously before thermal overload. A motor
thermal will act exactly like a stall. Thermal reset occurs after the motor has cooled sufficiently,
this usually takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on ambient temperature and ventilation.
Duty Cycle M25:
The stated On / Off times denote continuous operation duty cycle without motor overheating. A
motor that is cool should not be run continuously for more than 4 minutes. There is no internal
thermal cut-off. With maximum limits, the motor can only run 40 turns which is about 1.4 minutes.
Sound dBA Rating:
The decibel (dB) is used to measure sound level, but it is also widely used in electronics, signals
and communication. The dB is a logarithmic unit used to describe a ratio. The ratio may be
power, sound pressure, voltage or intensity or several other things. The numbers used to describe
absolute sound in decibels are dBA.
Our sound testing of AC motors at ESI has been performed at a 1 meter distance. Only the
bare motors were tested, revealing: the motors range from approximately 42 dBA to 44 dBA.
In general, the more powerful the motor, the more noise it will produce. Typically, the faster a
motor turns, the more noise it will produce.

be free from manufacturers defects, for 5 years from date of initial manufacture.
Should an ESI manufactured product be found to be defective we will repair or replace
it, free of charge.
To return products for inspection and repair or replacement, simply contact us for a
return authorization number, and then ship the parts in question back to ESI, freight
charges pre-paid. ESI will inspect and repair or replace any defective items and return
them freight pre-paid.
While this product warranty does not cover failure due to field abuse, neglect, damage
by others, or natural disasters ESI may elect to repair or replace such damaged product
at our sole discretion.
The repair or replacement of product is the limit of any warranty from ESI and no other
express or implied warranty exists for incidental and or consequential damages as a result of any field failure of ESI products.
It is our intention to support our customers efforts with the greatest products and warranty in the industry!
