OF THE FILM

A strength of the film is to have assembled an almost

flawless cast instead of just going for big stars; Direction
is very successful got the thrills of 1940s movies,
preserving their original charm.
Lots of subplots from the novel aren't present or have loose ends
here which doesn't give us enough time to full enjoy all the subtle
mechanisms of the count's revenge.
