Answer There is a tool attached to this technote that will do the conversion and give you files to import, Attached are the initial and subsequent releases of the Alarm Migration Tool and related documentation, This tool migrates digital and analog alarms defined in the FactoryTalk® View SE Tag/Alarm CSV files. The resulting fle is an Excel file in XML spreadhseet format that can be imported into your FactoryTalk® Tag A&E server. This tool will not convert graphics and will not modify your application directly Instructions for Installation 1. Ifyou have a prior version of the tool installed, please remove it using Add/Remove Programs before installing a newer version 2. Unzip the zip fle downloaded into a temporary location 3, Review the README file included in the zip fle 4, Doubleclick on setup.exe 5. Click Next 6, Review the installation information and click install 7. Itprompted from UAC to make changes, click Yes 8. Click Finish Instructions for Use 1, Export your tags to CSV from your FactoryTalk® View SE project using the Tag Import and Export Wizard a. Launch the wizard by clicking Start->All Programs—->Rockwell Software-->FactoryTalk View-->Tools-->Tag Import and Export Wizard b. Select the Export FactoryTalk View tag database to CSV files option ©. Click Next d. Select your project type @. Browse to the path of the corresponding sed or fle for the project 1. Click Next g. Ensure that both Tags and Alarms are selected to be exported and specify the path for each export file h. Click Finish 2. Convert your alarms a. Launch the tool by clicking Start->All Programs-->Rockwell Software-->Alarm Migration Tool->Alarm Migration Too! b. Click Next c. Type in the paths to the HMI Tags and HMI Alarms files exported in step 1 or browse to them using the ... button . Click Next . Type in the path to the AE import xls file to be generated by the tool or browse using the ... button f. Click Next g. Select additional options for the migration. h. Click Migrate Alarms I. Click Close 3. Verify your results by opening the .xls file before importing and make any additional changes you may require 4, Import your A&E alarms into your A&E server a. Create a new A&E server if one does not exist a, Right click on an area in your project and select Add New Server-->Tag Alarm and Event Server... b. Specify a Name and options for the server ©, Click OK b. Right click on the A&E server Name added to your project explorer and select Import and Export ©. [Controller|Tag1 vs. :{Controller|Tagt ‘You need to have Microsoft Excel installed on your system for the Migration Tool to work or the tool may generate a fatal error when trying to create the resulting XLS file Please remove any commas from tag descriptions as the parser may have issues processing the description field and producing the output fle Ifyour alarm message begins with the character = then you may get the below error when attempting to create the resulting XLS file Exception from HRESULT: @x800A03EC To work around this issue, after exporting, edit the alarm message in the resulting CSV file to remove the leading = character, import, then edit the alarm message in FactoryTalk® View Studio. Please remove spaces from the Alarm Class When using the option to set the HMI Alarm Label as the new Tag A&E Alarm Class, if any of the alarm labels contain spaces, the invalid string will be copied to the ASE Alarm Class. The XLS import file will be created successfully, but the import will fail with the below error.
