Understanding the Grand Theft Auto series: The benefits of playing thereof
Abstract
Grand Theft Auto is a long-running series of video games which is notorious for the
controversies it regularly receives upon the release of its respective titles. However, there are
more pros than cons in playing this series. This report will reveal the benefits of playing the
series which I have discovered throughout years of playing its releases.
Introduction
The Grand Theft Auto series is not just the most controversial video game series of all
time; it is also the most controversial series of entertainment media.
Controversies include the portrayal of racism between Cubans and Haitians in a reimagined, fictional Miami in GTA: Vice City; the sexual Hot Coffee modification of GTA: San
Andreas; and the brutal and realistic torturing of an Azerbaijani man in GTA: V.
Controversies have plagued the series since the release of the first title. This was
primarily due to the series violent, yet comical way of parodying the Criminal Life and the
American Society the protagonists live into.
Arguably the best benefit one could get in playing the series is the rather comical
simulation of real life which includes satirical portrayal of the American way-of-life and the
realistic simulation thereof through different circumstances. As these things were based on the
reality we live in, many players found them educational, thus benefitting them in the process.
