PLOT

The Amigo Brothers is about


how boxing affects the friendship
of two friends told in third person.

Antonio Cruz and Felix


Vargas are conflicted
because they have to fight
each other and are afraid of
how it will affect their
friendship.

Antonio and Felix decide not to see each other


until the fight so they can prepare themselves.

Antonio prepares for


the fight by planning
on making it a quick
knockout, not hurting
him and pretending it
is just another
opponent.

Felix prepares for the


fight by comparing it
to a movie called
The Champion with
Kirk Douglas.

Climax

As the fight begins, it


reaches the climax
of the story where
the two characters
compete.

RESOLUTION
The resolution was when
they came to the
conclusion that no matter
what the decision they
knew they would always be
champions to each
other(89). Ultimately, their
friendship was more
important than winning.

MOOD

At the point where the effects of the upcoming


match effect the characters, the mood changes: But
even when joking with each other, they sensed a wall
rising between them(83).

That thought
creates a serious
mood.

The reader
knows that
their
friendship
may become
fragile.

Characterization

Antonio is determined
because he had a dream of
someday becoming
lightweight champion of the
world(82). It is clear to the
reader that he has high
goals that he knows he will
achieve.

Antonio Cruz and Felix Vargas are both dynamic characters


because it is clear that they changed in result of the experience.
Before they could find out the winner of the match, Arm in arm the
champions had already left the ring(89). It is clear that they
realized that their friendship is more important than winning.

Felix is optimistic because


he slept, ate, rapped, and
dreamt positive(82). It is
clear that he knows in
order to become a
champion boxer he must
be positive.

They are both round characters. Antonio Cruz and Felix Vargas were both
17 years old. They had known each other since childhood, growing up on
the lower east side of Manhattan.(82) This shows that they are well
developed with detailed descriptions. Also, they have many sides to them.

THEME
This story is about
friendship. The two
characters realized
that the end of the
match, No matter
what the decision,
they knew they would
always be champions
to each other(89).

This proves to us that the


theme is Friendship is more
important than winning.
