HOW TO THRIVE IN THE S

MODULES

GENERAL TIPS

Do as much as FIRE as possible over the summer- youll be so

happy come December!
Dont neglect P2 and FIRE- both of these can really catch up on
you during S6 module
Read Robbins Basic Pathology- pay special attention to histology
descriptions and pictures!
No more midterms! Make sure you do formative quizzes and keep
up with material

Dont worry about step 1 (yet)- focus on doing well in your classes!

Beware of resource envy- its a real thing!

GENERAL RESOURCES:

Baby Robbins (online library text)

Pathoma (video lectures)

Goljan Rapid Review/Goljan Audio (ask your big for the Audio)

First Aid- youll want to get the 2015 version in January (preorder so you get it ASAP)
Consider Crush Step 1 (more explanations than FA)- I wish I
had had this during the school year
Utilize the SASS office resources!

RESOURCES: QUESTION SOURCES

UWorld

Buy approx 360 days before your anticipated test date (May 11 will be the latest
next year).
Do questions pertinent to the module youre in
Start with 5 questions/day during S1- Ms. W will tell you how to increase from
there during M2
Read the explanations, even if you get it right
Expect low scores initially (i.e. dont get freaked out by 30%)
Buy the self-assessments to use in April of next year (dont activate now!)

USMLE Rx

From makers of FA, online resource, good way to go through FA without going
through FA

Robbins Pathology Review

Right from the book they teach us from

BRS Pathology- if you really want more questions- I felt the above were
way better
Kaplan Qbank- used by a minority of my classmates, may be too
detailed/not specific for our classes though, worth checking out some free
questions though

MODULE SPECIFIC RESOURCES

(WHEN APPLICABLE)

Cardio/Pulm
Heart

MurmurPro App
Pathophysiology of Heart Disease by Lilly (use instead of
Robbins- theyll give you the reading assignments from hereshort and really well-written)

Neuro

Made

Ridiculously Easy (hell give reading assignments out of

here but you can do something else if youd rather)
Roadmap to Neuroscience- my preferred resource
Also heard good things about: High Yield Neuroanatomy and
Blueprints Neuro

P2

Symptom

to Diagnosis- online text via library is free- but

seriously, read this. The chapters are something like 10
pages/week and are really helpful for learning how to develop a
differential diagnosis
