Trying Times and a Yearning Heart

In my eyes you see pain

For the rejection remains;
His words felt like arrows
Every hesitation like a sparrow.

As I stand there, I hear him say

I love you but just not in that way;
I remain standing there quiet
Though my heart is, disquiet.

I cry, I plead, I ask why?

As he continues to walk on by;
I lay in my bed, heartbroken
He calls his voice unbroken.

As he talks, I stay silent

As my world stops spinning, I stay silent;
My heart went cold
My soul grew old.

I wonder if youll change your mind

Though your heart and mind remain in a bind;
In my eyes you see pain
For the rejection will always remain.
