Abstract:
Gravity inversion was conducted over a profile taken from fifth-order Bouguer
residual map for area situated north western of Basrah, Iraq. Inversion was
set to estimate density contrast and possible depth for the anomalous source
which caused the observed gravity high in the profile. Results showed that
density contrast of ()kg/m3 with depth estimation of () km are acceptable and
in agreement with values reported from neighboring areas suggesting that
lateral density variation is the most factor that contributes to the gravity high
seen in the map.
