Apple Pie Filling

6-8 baking apples (depending on size) I used 2 Granny Smith, 2 Braeburn, 2


Fuji
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup white sugar
very tiny pinch of salt
3 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp butter
1 egg, beaten

Cut up apple.
Toss in lemon juice.
Add sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
Add cornstarch and mix until no cornstarch can be seen.
Add to pie crust.
Dot with butter.
Cut slots in top of pie crust.
Brush top with egg wash and dust with sugar.
Put on a foiled baking pan and bake in 375 oven for approx. 1 hour until
crust is browned.
