How to Create a Magic Square

The numbers to be used are:

14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30

The sum of these numbers is 198. Since we are creating a 3x3 square, you will divide the sum by
3 which gives you 66, the magic number. This means when you add each row of numbers
(horizontally, vertically and diagonal) it will equal 66 each time.
The eight combinations are:
30 + 22 + 14 = 66

In order to find the combinations, you

must first add the largest number to the
smallest number and the difference of the
two gives you the middle number. Then,
you add the next largest number to the
next smallest number and so on. For a 3x3
square you will have 8 total combinations.

30 + 20 + 16 = 66
28 + 24 + 14 = 66
28 + 22 + 16 = 66
28 + 20 + 18= 66
26 + 24 + 16 = 66
26 + 22 + 18 = 66
24 + 22 + 20 = 66

Next, you will count the number of

times you used each number in the 8
combinations (as seen above). The
number you used most will be your
middle number. The next four numbers
used the most make up the corners of
your square. Then, you add in the last
remaining numbers. Make sure you add
each row to confirm it totals to 66.
