Reflection for Christmas Midnight Mass; Luke 2:1-14. God chose Jesus to be born in a barn because no other place was available for them or no one was willing to let them in. On this night of the birth of Jesus, he is knocking on the doors of our hearts as well. Let us open our hearts to Jesus let him dwell there for there is no greater gift that we could receive in this season than Jesus.

Reflection for December 23, 2014 Gospel: Luke 1: 57 66
When we obey God, great things happen. We arent talking spectacular magical things, though that can happen too. God knows us, our hearts and what is best for us, so it is only natural. When we cooperate with his plan, only good can come of it because God is good. Zachariahs voice was taken from him in his doubt when the angel Gabriel announced Elizabeth would have a son. Sometimes our own doubt and noise gets in the way of what God is telling us. It is in silence and prayer that we truly hear God. Once the child was born, Zechariah went against tradition and pressures from the world in obedience to God. God told Zechariah that his son should be named John. Only when the child was named John at the circumcision, was Zechariah given his voice. We take special notice how Zechariah immediately praised God in thanksgiving with his restored voice.

Reflection for Thursday December 25, Christmas Midnight Mass;
Luke 2:1-14: A manger is a box where feeds for farm animals are placed; a manger is located in a barn. A barn is a small place where farm animals are located or housed. God chose Jesus to be born in that lowly location for a reason and that reason is for us to appreciate that Jesus comes to our life in the humblest and simplest occurrence.
God could have chosen Jesus to be born in a palace befitting his
status but God chose Jesus to be born in a humble location so that he would be accessible to all of us. If God chose Jesus to be born in a palace he would be distancing Himself from many of us for palaces befit only royalties and kings.
Jesus was born in a barn because no other place was available
for them or no one was willing to let them in. They went knocking from door to door but to no avail. Perhaps they were all busy thats why they have no time to open their house for the birth of Jesus.
On this night of the birth of Jesus, He is knocking on the doors of
our hearts as well. Let us open our hearts to Jesus let us let Him dwell there for there is no greater gift that we could ever receive in this season of Christmas than Jesus Himself.
