My name is Rosa Velia Gutirrez Barrn, better known as Alex Heesher.
Im 18 years old and study Civil Engineering at La Salle University. I am
a grant holder of the Bicentennial Generation scholarship, from a trusteeship that was consolidated in 2010. People around me were surprised, even when they all know diplomacy and international matters have been always part of my interests; they assured they are not related to my career. I proved them wrong. The world thinks that the only ones who can meddle in international problems are those related to politics, economics, and law or similar, but the truth is that it is up to all of us. My project Light-in-the-box is quite simple. Why cant education reach the corners of all nations? Simple, the lack of schools and the lack of teachers. How would any country government could give the most isolated zones, functional schools, make the population accept these foreign buildings and at the same time, low the costs to grant as many as possible? A school in a box. A metallic structure that can bend over to fit in a box and be carried to any place by just one teacher.
