The WOW program was instituted here at our school to help encourage the students to
be at school on time and in uniform. Each day that all students in a class meet those
requirements, the class receives a letter. Once the class has earned enough letters to
spell out a word (for instance: WOW, BRAVO, or UNPRECEDENTED), the students earn a
prize or reward (for example: permission to be out of uniform for a day, extra P.E. time,
a party, etc.).
As stated above, the program required that all students be on time and in uniform for
the class to obtain a new letter. This means if just one student did not meet those
qualifications that day, the entire class missed out on a letter. The teachers discussed
how to make the program equal for the students who continually meet the WOW
requirements. This letter is to inform you of a change to this program effective January
5th, 2015.
This change concerns students who will accumulate 10 or more combined tardies and
unexcused absences starting from that date. These students will be approached by
their teachers about their attendance, and, after notifying their parents, they will be
temporarily removed from the WOW program. Their absences and tardies will not be
counted against the class for the WOW program while they are temporarily excluded
from it. If, however, the class earns an entire word while the student is removed from
the program, that student will not receive the reward. Once the student has been on
time and in uniform 10 days in a row, he or she will be re-enrolled in the program. Once
a student is participating in the program again, he or she will be able to receive any
rewards or prizes awarded to the class starting that day.

El programa WOW se instituy aqu en nuestra escuela para animar a los estudiantes a
estar en la escuela a tiempo y en sus uniformes. Cada da que todos los estudiantes en
una clase cumplen con esos requisitos, la clase recibe una letra. Cuando la clase gana
suficiente letras para deletrear una palabra inglesa (por ejemplo: WOW, BRAVO, o
UNPRECEDENTED), los estudiantes ganan un premio o recompensa (por ejemplo:
permiso para vestirse con ropa que no sea de uniforme por un da, ms tiempo de la
educacin fsica, una fiesta, etc.).
Como ya explicado en el prrafo de arriba, el programa requera que todos los
estudiantes estuvieran a tiempo y vestido en su uniforme para ganar una letra nueva.
Como consecuencia, si un da solamente un estudiante no cumpli con las calificaciones
del da, la clase entera no pudo ganar una letra. Los maestros hablaron de cmo hacer
que el programa sea ms justo para los estudiantes quienes cumplen continuamente
con los requisitos WOW. Esta carta se le mand para informarle de un cambio del
programa hacindose efectivo el 5 de enero, 2015.
Este cambio concierne a los estudiantes quienes acumularn 10 o ms tardanzas o
ausencias no excusadas empezando con esa fecha. Los maestros hablarn con estos
estudiantes sobre su asistencia, y despus de que los padres estn notificados, estos
estudiantes estarn excluidos del programa WOW temporalmente. Sus tardanzas y
ausencias no afectarn la clase en cuanto al programa WOW durante el tiempo en que
ellos estn excluidos temporalmente. Sin embargo, si la clase gana una palabra entera
mientras un estudiante est quitado del programa, ese estudiante no recibir el premio.
Despus de que el estudiante llegue a su clase a tiempo y en su uniforme 10 das
seguidos, l o ella se inscribir de nuevo en el programa. El estudiante podr recibir
cualquier recompensa o premio que se le d a la clase empezando el da en que el
estudiante empez a participar en el programa de nuevo.
