FATHERS PARENTING ROLE and THE SELF - CONCEPT

Abstract
Background : Teenagers self-concept are the views and feelings in teenagers about
themselves are psychological, social, physical where father and mother have
importance role in teenagers.
Purpose : To estimate proportion of the fathers parenting role and the self-concept on
teenagers.
Method : This study is a cross sectional conducted at vocational high school
Muhammadiyah 01 Paguyangan. The student aged 15 18 years old, still has a father
and live with father. The techniques sampling using quota sampling. Sample for the
study was 101 students and 101 fathers. The data collection for fatherhood variable and
self-concept variable using a questionnaire. Data analysis calculations using chi
square with a level of significance 5% (0.05).
Result : Of 101 students, students who have a more positive self-concept (78.2%) large
than students who have a negative self-concept (21.8%), 78(95%CI: 0.70 to 0.86). Of
101 fathers, most of them 76.4% have a good parenting role, 76(95%CI: 0.67 to 0.84).
Conclusion : The fathers had a great role in the parenting and the students had the selfconcept among teenagers.
Recommendations : For the father to provide accurate guidance for the development
of self-concept of their teenagers to be better.
