Infectious Disease History of The Nutritional Status of Toddlers

ABSTRACT
Background: Nutritional status is the final result from a balance between food intake into the
body (nutrient input) to the needs of the body (nutrient output) will be those nutrients. Direct
causes of malnutrition is an imbalance of nutrients in foods that are consumed and spread of
infectious diseases. The results of the report Department of Health Banyumas in 2008
showed high prevalence of undernourished children 11.9% and 1.0% severe malnutrition.
Objective: to determine the relationship between feeding practices by mothers and toddlers
infectious disease history of the nutritional status of toddlers in the Village Integrated Health
Care Service Center Kutasari, Baturaden District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java,
Indonesia.
Methods: This observational type is descriptive analytic. The sample in this study amounted
to 102 person. Samples taking tech with cluster random sampling. Cross sectional research
design using chi square test.
Result: The proportion of good feeding practices, good nutritional status at the group
amounted to 85.9%, whereas a history of infectious disease on nutritional status of children
there ages toddler 83.9% in good categories.
Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between feeding practices by mothers of
toddlers nutritional status (p = 0.034) and no significant correlation between history of
infectious diseases with nutritional status of toddlers (p = 0.166).
Tips: Mother is expected to apply nutrition knowledge possessed so toddlers have a good
nutritional status.
