In July, Dr.

Joseph Majzoub, chief of endocrinology at Boston Childrens Hospital

published an article in Science regarding a gene mutation that disabled the bodies
function to control how quickly calories are burned. The gene, known as MRAP2,
acts in the brain to control weight. This gene signals another gene that was already
previously known to control appetite. By deleting the gene, the mice they tested
became irregularly obese.
