About Speakers:

Shri Arbind Singh, is Executive Director of Nidan which creates institutions and programmes to
promote the economic and social development of Indias poorest and marginalized workers. It builds
profitable businesses and organizations led by workers from the informal sector, including waste
workers, rag pickers, vegetable vendors, construction labourers domestic helpers, farmers and street
traders. Nidan works with 1,00,000 informal workers and 10000 children.
Shri Anoop Kaul is a Director on the Board of BASIX Academy for Building Lifelong Employability
Ltd., Mera Gao Power and Vayam Renewable Ltd. as well as founder Member of the Governing
Council of CSC Forum and Sahulat Microfinance Society. BASIX is a livelihood promotion institution
established in 1996, working with over a 3.5 million customers, over 90% being rural poor households
and about 10% urban slum dwellers. BASIX works in 17 states, 223 districts and over 39,251 villages.

Abhilasha Sinha is a Regional Manager with Avanti Learning Centres, an organization which
combines technology and peer collaboration to reduce teacher dependency and provide a world class
education at affordable rates. Avanti currently works with over 600 low-income high school students
across 8 cities in partnership with affordable school systems. Abhilasha manages Avantis operations
in North India. Prior to this, she worked on curriculum development at Avanti.

Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak is founder of Sulabh International Social Service Organization.Sulabh has
been

working

for

the

removal

of

untouchability

and

social

discrimination

against scavengers, a section of Indian society condemned to clean and carry human excreta
manually. Bindeshwar Pathak is a Padma Bhushan recipient from the Government of India. His work
is considered one of the pioneer in social reform especially in the field of sanitation and hygiene.
