Once again, we have successfully applied for catchment management and revegetation grants. From the PPWCMA, we have $500 for training, insurance and
admin costs. The CMA is keen for us to be involved in the Yarra4Life Biolinks
Project, which has identified priority areas along Badger Creek downstream of
Healesville Sanctuary to the Yarra River, then upstream along the Yarra to Woori
Yallock. At our AGM last year, we identified that this area needed attention as
there are high turbidity levels in the river. Meetings in Jan and Feb will be attended by Arthur to discuss what can be achieved.
From Melbourne Water we have received a $1000 Support Grant for meeting expenses, a tear drop banner and members training, and a Project Grant of $8250
for two monitoring cameras and materials for Coranderrk Ck Reveg Stage 3.

This project includes our Mothers Day Trees for Mum planting morning on
May 10, so please put it in your diaries NOW. Landcare Australia has recently
partnered with Trees for Mum, which began 12 years ago in Sydney. There will
be three 1 hr planting sessions (9, 10, or 11am) and we expect that this familyfriendly event will be easier to manage than Landcare for Singles. We need members to assist with the refreshments at the end of each session, demonstrate how to
plant, and assist when necessary.
Thanks to lobbying by our group, Melbourne Water has commenced bank stabilisation works at a badly eroded section of the creek. This was damaging an important fire access track, and had the potential of cutting off vehicle access to our
Landcare for Singles revegetation sites. The frequent spring and summer rain,
shady position of the sites and follow up weed control has resulted in fantastic
growth to date.
New Resources
We have received funding for two Scoutguard Monitoring cameras. We will use them to survey for animals along our revegetation sites on private and public land. We hope to gain footage of noctural pests
and native species, so that future pest management
methods can be tailored to suit. We will also use the
footage to demonstrate to the community and our
funding bodies that our projects are working.
