8c. Select a source you found while conducting research on your topic. What strategies does the
writer use that you appreciate? What of those strategies can you model and incorporate in your
own current project? Practice modeling one or more strategy.
Gordon N. Bardos wrote the article called Jihad in the Balkans, this article was one of my
main sources for writing the profile that I have just turned in. Bardos is quite the writer which is
why I chose to use his article as one of my sources. I had never read anything written by him
before this but his article just caught my attention with full force. Strategies he used included
using great detail on what Jihad actually is. He was absolutely fantastic on explaining that to me
and that is why I felt I was able to use it to the best of my ability. Because Bardos is president of
Seerecon, which is a political risk and advisory form in Europe he is able to teach of the great
problems Jihad is causing. He also was very well organized in his writing and made it all flow
very well like any great writer should. I feel like I can learn from Bardos by using some of his
strategies such as great detail and organization for my profile. Also he made me connect with the
people who have been harmed through Jihad and made me feel for them. If I could tap into
emotions of people that would help me greatly in all my papers, not just the profile I have
written.
