The above values were obtained by using the formula:


M/bd2 = 0.87*fy*p/100*(1-1.005*fy*p/100fck)
Once we know fy and fck, the only unknowns left in the
question are percentage of steel and the ration of moment with bd2. We made a
table for the same.
It was observed that the values of M/bd 2 increases with
percentage of steel until the percentage is as high as 4.98, which isnt allowed as
per IS guidelines. Also for percentage of steel greater than 1.87 the beam tends
to become over-reinforced making it non-feasible. In general the SP-16 table is
calculated for M/bd2 values in the range of 0.3 to 3.0. We have highlighted that
part of the table.
