Structure: bridges

Bridges were made so people could have an easier way to

transport from one side to another, like a cross a big lake, and
also you dont have to waste time to go on a boat when you can
just go on a train, car, or bus. But in ancient times when they
didnt have our kinds of bridges people would throw a log across a
stream or woven ropes. But now we have different kinds of
bridges.
Some different types of bridges we have are rigid beam
bridge, Beam Bridge, truss bridges, Bussey Bridge.
A Rigid Beam Bridge A rigid beam bridge are the most
common form of bridging it has straight slabs or girders holding
up the roadbed. (Example of rigid bridge is The Millau Viaduct
spans the Tarn River Valley in Southern France). It is also the 12th
highest bridge in the world, with a 270 meters drop from the
bridge road to the valley below.
Beam Bridges Beam bridges are supported by several
beams and if the beams start rotting or beak that will not be good
at all (Example of a beam bridge Lowa River Bridge, USA) this
bridge did collapse and dropped a locomotive and two tanker cars
into the water.
Cable-Stayed Bridges cable stayed bridges are only hooked
on to the end of the bridge so it leaves the middle vulnerable. But
then again it connected too two or more columns. (Oresund
Bridge between Denmark and Sweden. In 1991, the Danish and
Swedish governments signed an agreement to establish a fixed
link across the Oresund)
These are some of bridges that people use in are everyday
life.

In our class project I chose a cable stayed bridge. I believe a

cable stayed bridge will have a very good structure because they
have structure wires going down the bridge to form a triangle
shape. Triangle have a very strong structure.
