By the end of the thematic unit, you should know, understand, and be able to do the
following:
Know:

Vocabulary pertaining to occupations, stores, purchases, locations in the city,


directions, prepositions of location
Indirect object pronouns
Conjugations of dar, decir, saber, conocer, ser, and estar in the present tense.
Conjugations of regular verbs, -car, -gar, -zar verbs, conocer, andar, venir,
tener, dar, ver, hacer, and ir in the preterite tense.

Understand:
Verbs must be conjugated to show who is doing the activity and when the
activity takes place.
There are two past tenses in Spanish that have different uses.
There are several ways to talk about the verb to know in Spanish.
The imperative tense is commonly used in Spanish, and there are other ways
of expressing commands.
There are recognizable language patterns in Spanish.
Do:

Conjugate a variety of verbs in the present tense.


Conjugate a variety of verbs in the preterite tense.
Describe occupations.
Talk about knowing people, places, facts and information.
State where someone went and what he or she did.
Ask for clarification.
State business hours, names of stores, and items purchased.
Use impersonal and passive se to talk about what is done, what is allowed or
what is prohibited.
Use the preterite tense to talk about completed past actions.
Infer meaning from text and audio sources.

Narrate in the past using locations, people, and activities


pertaining to the city in written form.
Describe locations, people, and activities pertaining to the city
in spoken form.
Read and respond appropriately concerning the city.
Listen and respond appropriately concerning the city.
